A Touching Story

I just wanted to share this beautiful, touching story that I came across recently.

~The cab drive I will never forget ~

Five years ago, I was a part-time cab driver while going to school.

It was a cowboy’s life, a life for someone who wanted no boss.

What I didn’t realize was that it was also a ministry. Read the rest of this entry »

We Should Dance

Some nice thoughts for the day that I wish I had an author to credit:

Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad is a full minute of happiness you’ll never get back.

Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here we should dance.

Kindness vs. Truth

“Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.” ~Robert Brault

Heart Trouble

It seems like my timing is just a little off lately. The frustrating thing is knowing that everything that happens to me happens for a reason. These missed opportunities are not that at all but likely clearing the path for even better ones. This lost love, again, intentional. Still, it would be nice to find that door they are saving, one of them, anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

Share Your Riches

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.” ~Benjamin Disraeli

Serendipity Rules

In rats, I often (especially lately) have people come to me trying to get me to validate their desire to keep a single animal as a pet. Rats are social animals like people and dogs, but they live a good part of their lives in a cage. We don’t take them for walks like we do dogs where the dogs, at least, have some chance to interact Read the rest of this entry »

Pay Attention in Class

“We had the experience but missed the meaning.” ~T.S. Eliot

Crossroads

People call it “reaching crossroads” in their lives, and I’ve never quite understood why, exactly. Well, not until now. It makes sense that there are decisions to make, a road to choose, but there are decisions to make every day, all the time. Do we refer to a crossroad only when we have some sort of important decision to make? Read the rest of this entry »

“(Believed You Were) Lucky” Lyrics

So I guess I’ll give it up
yeah I guess I will
what’s the use in pushing
when it’s all uphill
I can’t be appointed
keeper of the flame
without two to carry
it won’t burn the same

It seems obvious to me
but then again
could be
you just never felt that way
I wish you Believed in
Life-
Believed in Fate-
Believed you were Lucky
and worth the wait
’cause life could be lovely
oh Life could be so great

It gets so embarrassing
so I aquiesce
and I’ll change my mind again
you change your address

It seems logical to me
but then again
could be
I was simply not that smart-
I thought you believed in
Life-believed in
Fate-believed you were
Lucky-and worth the
Wait-’cause life could
be lovely-life could be so great

There must be some other door
that they are saving
behind which my happiness lies
I won’t be wasting my words
to tell you hopes that I had-
we can just leave it alone for now

I wish you: Belief in Life
Belief in Fate
Belief you are Lucky
and worth the wait
’cause life could be lovely
life could be fucking great.

Lyrics by Aimee Mann, song from the album “Everything’s Different Now” by ‘Til Tuesday, copyright 1988

Playing around with html

Me, Elisabeth
I am supposed to post a picture of myself, but while I am at it (playing around with html and trying to figure out how to do the picture thing), I’ll also post a quote from a song that I particularly like. The quote stuck with me, and I’ve been meaning to put it here.

“. . . Such a muddy line between the things you want and the things you have to do. . .”

From “Leaving Las Vegas” by Sheryl Crow, Bill Bottrell, David Baerwald, Kevin Gilbert and David Ricketts from the album “Tuesday Night Music Club” 1993
